Lydia Krupinski

Picture

It's certainly an honor to introduce my readers to Lydia Krupinski & her eco-eclectic fashion line with a vintage bent, Pierogi Picnic.

Lydia was chosen as Eco-Minded Chicago's first feature because of her level of deep rooted passion for dressing women of all shapes & sizes throughout Chicago - and across the globe.  She is bringing fabulous green design to life for both women and men alike.  The eco-friendly fabrics, textures and delicious colors of her pieces are effortlessly chic yet demure with an understated elegance.  She explains more below as to what inspired the line.

I had the pleasure of recently meeting Lydia & touring her studio.  It took me less than 5 minutes to make the decision to ask Lydia to be Eco-Minded Chicago's first fashion feature.  What she has to offer in style aligns perfectly with my eco-conscious audience.  Lydia, thank you for sharing your talent, creative eye and vibrancy with my readers.  You managed to blend fashion with being kind to the planet, beautifully.

Included below is a direct excerpt taken from Lydia's website - PierogiPicnic.com.

About Lydia Krupinski

Pierogi Picnic is the brain child of Lydia Krupinski who is a homegrown Chicagoan with roots in Eastern Europe. Having studied film and media creation at Loyola University and The School of the Art Institute – she never imagined that it would be her clothing designs that would set her creativity ablaze.

In addition to sitting around and fantasizing new ways of using old threads, Lydia is also the co-creator of the urban eco-living guide
Sprout Chicago. Beyond sewing and blogging, she spends her days managing volunteers and foster homes for Chicago’s oldest and most respected animal welfare organization – The Anti-Cruelty Society. And when she’s not doing one or all of the above – she can be found singing at Harvest, cooking vegetarian treats or relaxing at home with her hub, artist David Paul Downs, and their three mischievous pets Peanut, Butter and Tomato.

The Pierogi Picnic site
documents Lydia’s creative process as she ventures through the world of indie fashion and craft. Throughout this site she hopes to candidly share the ups, downs, ins, and outs of running a sustainable urban business. The aim is to at once inform, by sharing valuable small business knowledge, and also inspire others to take up their scissors to change the world – one fabric scrap at a time.

My shop is a combination of vintage and handmade creations that combine an urban aesthetic with a sustainable spin to bring you fashion you can be proud to live in. Check out my website for coupon, sale, and event info! www.pierogipicnic.com
